Habitat for Humanity houses are built with volunteer labor and to the greatest extent possible with donated materials
helping people help themselves
We are an organization based on helping people help themselves. We offer a hand-up, not a handout. To become a mortgage holder and tax-paying property owner, each homeowner is expected to provide 300 hours of sweat equity and a small down payment.
Approval of donors
In a survey of donors, Habitat for Humanity received an approval ratio of between 8 and 10 (on a scale of 1 to 10). The next closest organization was the Red Cross with a score of 7.
gift to the community
A gift to the Mt Washington Valley affiliate of Habitat for Humanity is also a gift to the community as mortgage money paid by current homeowners is reinvested in the community in new homes in the future.
Do I Qualify for Habitat for Humanity Home?
Our purpose at Habitat for Humanity is to build homes with families and sell them at no profit and with a no interest mortgage to families who could not otherwise afford a home. We are financed through private donations, grants, and utilize volunteer labor. Find out more.
